New immigrants face the challenge of changes in social and cultural climates, let alone adjusting to a new language. The Afghan Women’s Center recognized the ease and comfort many people feel in the kitchen. The kitchen happens to be the liveliest space in many households. Where families and friends congregate to chat, eat and cook.
Thus the AWC's most successful project has been the Afghan Women's Catering services. The AWCC services brings community members in the communal space of the kitchen. The success of the initiative have been significant, allowing the AWC to develop other activities for members.
